SashimiSashimi referes to raw, sliced fish or meat. This can be salmon, tuna, scallop, horse, salmon roe, sea bass, abalone, sea urchin and even puffer-fish or fugu.
The fugu fish or pufferfish is the second most poisonous fish in the world and if the chef does not prepare the fish properly, the poison will shut down your central nervous system, leading to death. There is no known antidote so chefs have to train for 7-10 years. Within Japan, it has been reported that no deaths have been caused from fugu prepared with a license. |
