The Japanese language (Nihongo) uses a completely different letter system to the English language. There are three sets of characters:
why learn Japanese?
Many Australians have decided to learn this language due to not wanting to read the subtitles in anime, wanting to go to japan in the future or have interest in the culture. With the increasing popularity of anime and manga, many people have been inspired to learn Japanese so they can read Japanese books. Many schools in Australia also offer Japanese as an elective e.g. Penrith high school. By learning Japanese, there will be many career opportunities available as Japan has the world’s second largest economy. Many electronic companies and car companies such as Sony, Panasonic, Honda and Toyota are from Japan.
